We sat at the entrance to the farmer's market located in the Fairfax shopping plaza. It was very cold and windy, but we stuck to it and set up a table to serve warm apple cider to people as they passed the Fresh Farm table. This was a nice gesture on a chilly day like that day, and was also cause to inform them of the food drive's mission to collect money to buy buy fresh produce from local vendors and supply food banks and families with fresh food around the holidays.

This was a really cool experience getting to work with FRESHFARM for the first time! It's amazing how they work with community members to provide access to local and fresh food for families to purchase. It was also awesome to see so much foot traffic at the Columbia Heights framer's market. We got to talk to so many people while handing how hot apple cider and collect lots of donations for the upcoming holiday season.
It may be worth having one drop off time during breaks, even just an hour, for the students who are still on campus.
GW Compost's outreach to campus events could make a significant impact with the volume of food waste produced at these events, especially if they use compostable dishes and utensils. I feel like this is a feasible next step in becoming a zero waste campus.
