Organization Name and Mission
Our Stomping Ground offers a variety of programs for adults with developmental disabilities, including book clubs, games nights, art and fitness classes, and more. We are always adding new events. Be sure to explore our calendar and register for those programs that are of interest. All OSG events are open to all members and friends!
We encourage GW students with initiative to join us for an existing program, then propose to host your own based on your talents, skills, and experience.

Our Stomping Ground works closely with our Affordable Housing Partners to help fill set-aside units within the apartment complex for persons with Developmental
Disabilities (DD). Apartment buildings are close to vital services, such as transportation, grocery stores, retail shops, and medical services. As units become available, OSG works with the VA DBHDS (Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services as well as local CSB (Community Service Board) to help identify Friends of Our Stomping Ground most in need who are ready to move to independent living. Once these individuals have been appropriately identified, we assist with their transition to the community and support them through integrative programming.

When and how often?
Our organization hosts up to (5) events each day, generally 6 days of the week, leaving many opportunities for service. Our programming is robust and occurs both in person (across Northern Virginia), as well as virtually via Zoom.
<>Programming typically ranges from 1-2 hours depending on the event.
It is critical that interns/volunteers are able to attend the events they have committed to.
Service Requirements
<>In order to participate in direct service with our organization, interns and volunteers must attend at least (2) in person OSG events as part of the onboarding process. OSG is protective of our adults with disabilities and require this step to ensure that volunteers are a good fit for our population.
Interested interns and volunteers will also be asked to shadow/train with our seasoned Community Builders for context and understanding throughout the volunteer process.
