    SERVICE: Mental Health Challenge

I am a long-time volunteer for Florida Mental Health Coalition(FMHC), a nonprofit organization aimed at reducing mental health disparities, and continue to enjoy my participation in providing mental health services to underserved populations and contributing to the community through voluntary sercice in various ways throughout this month of may and this last week. I am passionate about mental health and volunteer service; therefore, I have participated in more than 5 hours of service verifiable on this bingo board for the challenge and attached and tagged @tt.keyclub in the posts on FMHC’s Instagram handle @floridamhc that directly correspond to the 5 services I've circled on the board, indicating just a few of the areas of my contribution to this challenge by incorporating several of may’s mental health awareness month services I've participated in.

Incorporating my interests in mental health, pediatrics, and children with disabilities in conjunction with my love for music as a musician was an incredible experience and reaffirmed my prior belief that musical therapy could prove effective for children with disabilities, especially Autism.

This was my first experience having the opportunity to participate in nearly all of the numerous, time-consuming steps and processes that go into the development, analysis and implementation of an evidence-based research and interventional program from start to finish. Being able to not only create and develop an independent clinical research proposal and interventional program but also actually being able to participate in and witness its implementation firsthand, has been an incredibly rewarding experience.

While I have learned so much through this experience and have gained many or most of the extensive skills necessary to pursue more elaborate clinical research in the future; witnessing my 273 hours of voluntary service resulting in having a direct benefit on the overall mental health and wellbeing of others has been so gratifying. This overall experience has not only affirmed but heightened my self-confidence in my vast capabilities in successfully applying evidence-based research into clinical practice as a future physician as well as further fueled my interest in conducting clinical research as a potential future PI. Although this was not something I was necessarily considering prior to, throughout this experience now so inspired by witnessing the beneficial and expansive community-level impact that my own ideas have had on others that I have already
