I attended the scholars' night at the theater for the performance of By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, which is about racial tensions in early Hollywood in the 1930s, and controversy surrounding the perpetuation of stereotypes in the roles that were available to Black actors at the time. There was a reception in the lobby before the show started, the show was thoughtful and hilarious, and I had the opportunity to have some great conversations with my friends surrounding it. All of the actors did a phenomenal job!

I have volunteered for Foster the Family a few times over the past two semesters. I volunteered in several ways. One of the services that Foster the Family provides is packing and delivering care packages to children who have arrived in foster care and their foster families. These include clothes, toys, toiletries, a meal for the family, and more. Volunteers are on an on call schedule and if there is a family in need of a care package, they will get notified, pack the care package at the Foster the Family Baltimore location, and deliver it to the home. I have delivered three care packages to various locations in the Baltimore City area. I also volunteered to work child care during a Christmas brunch event. Last semester, an organization called Comfort Cases donated over 50 backpacks to Foster the Family, and I volunteered to pick them up and bring them back to the Foster the Family location.
I crocheted several blankets to donate to Project Linus, which was, as always, a delightful experience.
Working with this organization has been perfect for my schedule as a college student and has felt very rewarding. This semester I made 3 baby blankets of varying colors, patterns, and sizes. It is completely flexible with my schedule: I can crochet between classes or when I have down time during a rehearsal or in the evenings. It feels good to have physically made something with my hands that I can give to Project Linus to be passed on to people who need it. I really enjoy crocheting and I am glad to know that the blankets I make are going somewhere where they are needed.
Over the course of this semester, I worked on crocheting four baby blankets of varying styles and sizes to donate to Project Linus, who then brings them to kids in the hospital. This service placement gives me ways to give back with my talents and hobbies in a way that works with my schedule. I am attaching pictures of my work.
I attend United Church every Sunday. On a good amount of those Sundays, I will arrive early and help to set up connect cards that the congregation fills out each week and greet people as they come in the door. This service placement has helped me become more connected in my community and give back to the community as well.
I volunteer Sunday mornings to help set things up, fold cards, set up the bathrooms, to be ready for the church service. I also greet people as they enter for the morning service.
I volunteered on Sunday mornings with United Church, helping to set up for the church service, folding pamphlets, placing chairs, and helping take everything down after it was finished. This was a great opportunity for connection with a church. I had the opportunity to meet with a lot of great people and serve in an area that the church needed.
I volunteered with the Christian fellowship group on campus, organizing and leading a Bible study. I chose the plan we would follow, organized the meetings, and planned the agenda for said meetings.
