Once again, I was reminded of the privilege that I live with. I often forget that so many people are worse off than I am, but this workshop was able to help me understand what these people go through and what food insecurity means. The speakers also helped me learn more about how I can help, and it was very helpful.
The keynote speaker reminded me that MLK day of service is not only a day of service but a sobering reminder that systemic racism towards minorities, especially the black community, that was put in place hundreds of years ago is still going on today. However, it is our duty to reverse these effects every day, little by little.
Although this year we were not able to do physical service, I was greatly inspired.
