This hour was the first of our mentorship sessions. We had about 13 GW students there available but no students from ARISE ever showed up :(

Helped prepare slides for upcoming mentorship session that I will be attending on Wednesday Nov. 18
During this service hour I had the pleasure of taking part in one of Ben's English classes where we introduced ourselves, discussed a little bit about college life, and showed our video on food deserts and food justice. Unfortunately there wasn't more time for students to ask questions or for us to interact more, but I hope to get to soon during the semester!
During this time, I met with my group as we crafted our presentation on food deserts, recorded our audio clips, and added them to the slides. With this we were able to make and edit our video. It was actually pretty difficult since none of us have experience with video editing, but we were able to find a way to put together everything.
During these service hours I did research on the topic of food deserts in order to help my group create a video for Ben's English classes. I primarily focused on how food deserts commonly surround minority communities, and emphasized both minority neighbourhoods in cities as well as Native American reservations.
Researched potential presentation topics regarding food justice and decolonization. Decided upon food deserts and began to plan with my group for future research and creation of our video for the English classes.
