This particular session was really meaningful to me due to the fact that I was able to prepare food for the homeless on Thanksgiving Eve. This day, I was able to work with a partner to make Turkey Salad (through chopping onions, bell peppers, etc).
Every time I finish a session at DCCK, I feel a wave of accomplishment and pride mostly because of what I'm doing. Today, I was able to assist with chopping fruits which, again, to others might seem really boring or tedious. However, I was able to communicate with different people from different walks of life. On a Sunday morning, it's probably one of the most productive things I could do.
As usual, I definitely enjoyed this experience - moreso because I was able to attend it with a friend of mine in my Interpersonal Communication class. We had to chop cantaloupe as well as scoop pumpkin sauce which was honestly not very stressful!
Despite the fact that I had to wake up at an earlier time than usual on a Sunday morning, it turned out that this experience was very enjoyable and memorable for me. What I did was rather simple - I was cutting mangoes and sorting grapes into boxes, but who knew they would be a good way of destressing too! I loved meeting new people and communicating with them and so this was a really interesting way of doing so. I loved it!
