Today was my last day volunteering at Crossroads as I was informed that the government will be closing the doors of St. Bart's Church because health risks were getting too serious. While I am excited about not having to wake up at 5:30 in the morning, I can't help but feel terrible for all the homeless who relied on Crossroads for food. For today's meal we served rice with chicken and salad.

Today for our hot meal we served chili with beans and rice, and a salad on the side. I think as this virus continues it's harder for us volunteers to want to help because we need to stay safe, so there's been a noticeable decline in the number of volunteers helping.
Because Sundays are our breakfast days, we served the homeless pancakes and sausages and eggs as well as coffee.
Today we made over 200 bags. As for the hot meal, we served pasta with tomato sauce and meatballs along with a salad. Towards the end, we ran out of bags and needed to make a few extra which is always a good sign!
Today we served chicken frittatas with rice, beans, and potatoes. The food smelled really good!
Today was Easter Sunday and for breakfast, we served eggs with potatoes and sausages.
As I continue going to Crossroad at St. Barts Church, I find that I am slowly making for friends as well as constantly meeting new people. I've heard so many different stories and had many interesting conversations with the other volunteers. Even though these times are bad, we're still able to chat and keep the mood lively!
Today, we had fish sticks with rice and beans and a salad as part of the hot food. Along with that, we paired it with PB&J sandwiches.
Again, like always, I show up bright and early and bag bags or help make sandwiches and then distribute them to the homeless.
When I'm at Crossroads, I help bag bags. In the bags we put utensils, napkins, cereal, milk, a container of hot food etc... Even though it's not a lot of fun waking up at 5:30 AM, just knowing I'm giving back to the community and helping others makes all the difference.
