After serving as a mail helper I went to serve as an art helper for a little over 2 hours. I walked around and assisted anyone by getting more paint or whatever supplies they needed. I liked interacting with the homeless people and talking about their art that they were creating. It was fun hearing all their ideas.

I was able told to teach a new volunteer how mail services worked and how it was supposed to be done and it was so fun. Having come only a few times before and already being asked to teach a new volunteer was so cool and I enjoyed it a lot.
In the morning I went to get trained for the art studio department, it was supposed to be 45 min but it ended up being an hour. The case manager running the art studio showed me where everything was and there I could get it if the art cart ran out of something. While I was there I saw a lot of homeless people doing art and so many of them were so good at it. I was left shocked from some of the pieces because even if I tried, I could never be able to replicate what some of the homeless people did. It was impactful to see how many have such an amazing talent and due to unfortunate circumstances they were at the place and the only way to destress was through art.
Apart form sorting the mail and filing it, I was able to help set up the tables for dinner. I didn't think much of it but that small act helped another volunteer prepare other things for the homeless people.
It was fun helping out in mail services, I got to meet new people. It was a small task but I'm glad I helped make their load easier.
I was able learn how mail services was done at Miriam's kitchen and meet nice people.
