Another incredible day at Food & Friends! Always such fulfilling and rewarding work.
Served alongside my Alpha Delta Pi sisters to cook a meal for 15-20 RMH residents. This week we made a vegetable jambalaya with cornbread, and oatmeal cookies for dessert! As always, I had an amazing time not only cooking, but also enjoying fellowship with the RMH residents and families.
I spent my Friday night with a few of my sorority sisters cooking a meal for 15-20 residents of the Ronald McDonald House. RMH is our sorority's philanthropy, and it was my first trip visiting the house. It exceeded my expectations- the facilities are so beautiful, clean, and well-maintained, the staff is warm and friendly, and the families are surprisingly positive and outgoing giving their circumstances. We cooked a meal of blackened seasoned chicken breasts over cilantro quinoa with an avocado crema, a strawberry poppyseed salad, and apple pie cupcakes. I have to say, personally, it was one of the best meals I have ever made. And I think that's because I put so much love into it and because I was working alongside my sisters for a cause that is so dear to us. I can't wait to come back to RMH as soon as possible!!
Had an amazing volunteer experience packaging meals at Food & Friends in Fort Totten! I went with my best friend Anna, and we had so much fun helping the compassionate and friendly volunteers prepare meals to be sent out for the week.
