I was a part of a Food Tidy Up Shift at Martha's Kitchen for 2 hours. We spent the first part of the shift sorting cans from the Martha's Table van into different categories; canned meat, vegetables, tomatoes, soup, beans, pasta, etc. Then, we brought these cans into the indoor pantry and outdoor shed. Afterward, I spent time sweeping out "McKenna's Wagon" while the other 3 volunteers with me wiped off the tables and scrubbed the backmost part of the van. Finally, we swept the kitchen floor.
Today, I along with Shelley and Kimmie, watered the plants that were still alive and fed the frog. I also refilled the oil diffuser. We went to the anthropology department to collect their frozen compost; coffee grounds. We then disposed of dead plants and cleaned up the greenhouse.
Attended the Grow Garden service hours- did not have someone there to let us in.
Today we watered the plants, which seem to be doing better since last week despite not having any lights on. Also, we spent more time on composting. There were a significant amount of plant trimmings in the staff composting bin that we were able to put in the vermicomposter. There is a severe fly issue in the room, so we also set up some fly traps to mitigate that problem and make the environment more pleasant.
