My experience doing community engagement was definitely eye-opening. It wasn't necessarily doing the service itself, but researching and learning more about it after the experience. I believe it is a good project that GWSB should maintain because it shows the importance of community service in any and all businesses. In terms of the symposium, it was definitely very encouraging to start working on ideas for the future and to be determined in finding something you are passionate about that helps the community.
At Martha's Table, we set up a market that people could come and shop in. There was a variety of food that we set up in different tables and baskets. During open hours we got to interact with the DC community of all ages. We helped families have food in their homes and make this event a successful experience for all shoppers, volunteers and those in charge of Martha's Table. After closing hours, we helped clean up and put everything away.
