I started with helping walk a group of first graders around the garden, and while they were very excitable, they were very willing to listen and settle down when asked. Then inside we helped them make a poster, using cutouts of colorful food.

We worked with the preschoolers to harvest spinach for today's recipe and let them put some plants on the garden plots in front of the school. Inside we had a lesson on the separation of waste, recycling, and compost by playing a game where they were enthusiastic to put different materials into their respective bin and we read them a cute story about why we are trying to protect the planet.

We sat down with the kids to talk about renewable and nonrenewable energy sources and the benefits with each. After breaking up into groups, I sat down with the kids to read an article that listed energy sources and some fun facts about them. We then let the kids write down some information about each. I was happy when I found out that some of the kids had recognized me from previous classes and I helped them hand out the food that we prepared to people around the school.
