I really enjoy the opportunity to pour, give back, and extend a helping hand to perspective students during this time of transition from high school to college. I had several phone calls today where I was able to not only share but learn from the perspective of these students as well.
I really enjoyed volunteering here. I plan to continue beyond this course as I have learned some very rewarding information by using this website. Previously, I was unaware that volunteering online was even a thing! Great opportunity
I really enjoyed my experience learning and serving on this website previously, therefore, I decided to go back for more. I really enjoyed the opportunity to learn about history and give at the same time. This was super easy to complete, however, it was a very rewarding opportunity as well.
Every spring, the deans council for multicultural student recruitment have student volunteers to host admitted student calls throughout the month of April to allow perspective students to have their questions asked to help with making the best college decision for this. Through this opportunity, I am giving back by lending a helping hand to students who may be nervous about taking the step of leaving home and providing them with encouragement. I enjoyed making calls today because I was able to connect with people in my hometown and to assist them by answering any questions they may have and release some pressure off of their backs. I really enjoyed this opportunity.
Once again, I had a rewarding experience transcribing information for the Smithsonian Digital Volunteer Transcription Center. A few documents that I was reviewing were approved which made the experience much more rewarding. This has become one of my favorite was to give back to the community.
There was a document that I was transcribing on African American history. I was intrigued about the information I was learning as I previously watched a documentary on the topic I was transcribing. I really enjoy giving back to this website because I believe I am not only giving back but this website is making an impact on me as well.

Despite not being able to physically complete my remaining hours at DCCK, I really enjoyed this opportunity to transcribe and edit resources that are located in the Smithsonian museums as a digital transcriber. This definitely pulled me out of my comfort zone, however, I was able to learn information that I was previously unaware of. I really enjoyed this opportunity to serve this community online.
During this visit with DCCK, I worked closely along side my peers to make coleslaw. It was a fun, yet messy experience as I not only had the opportunity to serve, but I was afforded the opportunity to get to know some of my classmates a little better. Additionally, one of the chefs at DCCK shared a personal story about her grandson that touched everyone in the room. I asked to hug her as I saw tears beginning to fall from her eyes. This was a very rewarding and touching experience.
This was my first time volunteering at DCCK. I really enjoyed the experience that I received. When students from the course walked in, we were welcomed with open arms by the staff at DCCK. During my time, I met other volunteers from NASA as we cut cabbage to prep for meals for the upcoming week. Also, I worked closely along side a chef named, Anthony, and I assisted him with prepping applesauce and making pasta sauce for spaghetti and meatballs. I really enjoyed my experience at DCCK.
