Working with CEC and RAV has been a great experience so far. I am learning about how nonprofits are run from a business standpoint. Before, I tended to focus a lot on the issue area that the nonprofit I serve with is covering, but now I am thinking about how an organization works on the operational front. When an organization works more efficiently, it can more effectively make a difference in the issue area they impact.
This was my last day of Center - I bonded a lot with my scholars and I will miss them!
I had a great time reflecting with fellow students on GW's community engagement and learning about the service projects that people have been working on this semester.
Some of my scholars tonight were feeling tired, but I was proud of them because they pushed through the lesson and were still eager to learn.
We picked up trash along the Anacostia River. It's shocking how much trash there is, especially considering that there are people cleaning the same area every week!
Today was slightly harder to gauge the scholars' attention. They didn't seem as interested in the subject today even though we provided many incentives.
