I helped out the nurse by grabbing snacks for those giving blood.
At miriam’s Kitchen , I started off the night by peeling and cutting up sweet potatoes. The chef came over to me half way through cutting and said I was cutting them up too large, so I started trying to make them smaller. I was then put on the line to serve the guests their meals. we served fried rice and dumplings. It smelt really good! After, i helped put away the dishes again and was rewarded for my hard work with a piece of left over cake.
This time at Miriam’s, I started my work peeling and cutting up pairs. I later went on the line to serve the guests their dinners. Lastly, I helped the dishwasher put all the clean kitchen wear away. I had never done the last task so there was a lot of asking where things go!
This time at Miriam’s kitchen, I attended with my sorority. None of the other girls with me had been before so I was helping them in doing things, like where we go to sign in, where to find certain items, and other pointers. It was fun going and serving with a different group of people.
I had trouble signing in on the iPad at Miriam’s kitchen this day so I did not receive the confirmation email that I did in deed do the shift. Because it was so long ago, I do not remember much about what I did. I know that I worked on the line and cleaned up he main dinning room.
This time at Miriam kitchen, I was in charge of cutting up bell peppers for omelette for the next morning. I was then put on the line to serve the guests. Usually, there are four on the line, but there was only three of us that day. It was a little difficult to be in charge of two food items when the line moves so fast. The challenge was fun though and after I was done, I appreciated that that was the hardest part of my day.
I was back in the kitchen on Monday. I was in charge of peeling sweet potatoes and cutting up orgamges before heading over to serve. It was nice to see some of the guests I have met before. I’m starting to recognize their faces. I helped to clean the main dining room up after dinner which involved mopping and sweeping. Like every other time, the work was hard, but the knowledge that I was helping others in my community was reward enough.
