Every 10 years there is a new census, and in 2020 the government gets info on the population. In order to help the state of Maryland, I researched and created a document that looked at how every state in the country is redistricting their voting districts. I looked at each state a found recent information about gerrymandering and how the 2020 election has changed each state. Kristen in in charge of the Maryland Census and it was very interesting learning about all this new information.

Impacts
Reflected on the history of Aids and how impactful it has been on people around the world. It is still a massive problem especially in countries in Africa. Schools don't do enough to teach students about Aids, as it had an impact on millions of people in the last half century.
We listened to a presentation about the 2020 political environment and had Julian Ivey, a Maryland state delegate discuss is ideas about how young people should get involved. He is a super young politician and brought up student loans, police funding, health care, and the Covid-19 pandemic. It was extremely interesting and I look forward to following up with delegate Ivey.
It was interesting listening to a presentation given by the PGCC newspaper and the interview with Marylands 47th district delegate Julian Ivey. He had very insightful points surrounding education, college loans, and the importance of voicing political opinion as a young person. He is a great role model as a young progressive looking to move up in the political ranks.
We listened to speakers from the Tandana organization in Mali. They talked about what types of projects they did including helping villagers create grain banks in order to maintain a stead source of food for the community. The speakers also talked about how the organization was so good at what they did because of follow up. Other organizations help the community and then leave for good. On the other hand, Tandana tries to create relationships within the villages to ensure the sustainability of their projects.
While we did not finish this task, we spent time and effort reading the book The Jungle. We were going to talk about a specific chapter and share the themes of the chapter and the book as a whole. The book is a very relevant topic to the class and would have been a great read for the children. We created a lesson plan, consisting of an overall summary of the book, main themes and details about the specific chapter. We then brainstormed thought-provoking questions. While it was sad we could not end up helping out, I had never read the book and would highly recommend it.
It is a very important tool to have in order to help people in need.

We organized the warehouse underneath the main showroom. We organized books for different age groups, made sure electronics worked correctly and had the right light bulbs, and helped package plates and other kitchen items
