It felt good to spend time cleaning the marina and know that a cleaner marina will benefit the people and animals around us as well as ourselves.

    Michael @ GW ACM

I attended a computer science lecture hosted by GW ACM about regulating the internet. The guest speaker was KC Claffy, a leading researcher in the field. I learned a lot about the intricacies and difficulties that policymakers have to consider when deciding how to regulate how the internet is used. I really enjoyed this community engagement experience because I was exposed to an interesting topic with many of my fellow classmates and professors.

It felt good to be doing my part in maintaining a clean environment where many people and myself visit often. Picking up trash is a very effective way of making a place look a lot better. It is satisfying to see all the trash you collected once you finish knowing that the park is that much cleaner than when you got there.

Freedom of Want Community Day Prep Workshop

I spent the morning helping prepare materials for an event where families can create their own reusable bags. I processed plastic bags into into a stiff material that will be used to make reusable bags. It felt good to do this because I was able to spend my time doing something that will help others and make their lives better.
