Today I was able to help the guests get clothes for the week. It was rewarding being able to fulfill their requests and help them get ready for the winter. I was saddened to see how little clothing resources we had, but was grateful that there were at least some items we could give them. As always, I loved interacting with the guests.

Today was one of the busiest Miriam's has ever been, and it put a lot into perspective. It seems that a lot of the guests are feeling lost around the holidays and that they are looking for security at Miriam's. I was happy to be able to provide that to them today and make them feel listened to and taken care of.
As always, this was a great experience. I felt grateful that I was able to help all of our guests get blankets and coats for their cold nights.
It was really great at Miriam's today. I had a conversation with a guest about vitamins, where we spoke about how they are starting to feel less nourished as it gets colder outside because they are unable to access heat and warmth, creating a lot of problems for them internally. This opened my eyes to another dimension of crisis that people experiencing homelessness are facing.
As always, my experience has been wonderful. I had a great conversation with a fellow volunteer about ways in which we can improve the quality of the services the guests are receiving, especially their toiletries options.
Today was the best day yet. A guest at Miriam's was looking for me and was so excited to let me know that he was just approved for an apartment. He said he wanted to tell me before anyone else, and this is the reason I love volunteering here. I have made connections that are fulfilling and impactful and I look forward to continue this experience.
As always, this was a very great experience and I have learned a lot. The most interesting part was that we are no longer serving vitamins to the guests due to health reasons and to help encourage the guests to see their doctor. I find that interesting and am looking forward to seeing whether that is effective.
My volunteer work today was very fun. I got to interact a lot with the guests and we have continued to build our personal connection. I look forward to every shift.
Today was very good. I definitely saw more of the stressful and emotionally taxing part of volunteering with the homeless, but it is still very rewarding when you help them and make them smile.
As always, I really enjoyed my experience. The staff is very friendly and I love their willingness to help everyone around them. Miriam's Kitchen has built such a strong community of talented and kind people and I am really happy to be apart of it.
