Colonial Harvest is an event that the lacrosse team hosts every year when we create thanksgiving baskets for families in need around the DC area. (Day 1/2)
Colonial Harvest is GW lacrosse's Thanksgiving food drive for families in need in the DC area. During this weekend, we went to a food kitchen to drop off extra canned goods, stood in front of the Smith center to collect canned goods and donations, went to dorms to collect money, and went to Saint Rita's church to deliver the food baskets.

Colonial Harvest
At Martha's Table in NW, I served by cutting up cabbage, onions, and celery. I met a lot of people while working there including a woman from Mississippi who moved to DC 30 years ago and her friend of 20 years. There was also a boy from the basketball team from the University of DC. The other person cutting produce with us was a former marathon runner who has recently gone blind, and he was cutting onions for the full time I was there. I got to meet a lot of new, interesting people that I normally would not have been exposed to, so I enjoyed that aspect of volunteering. I also love cooking, so cutting produce up while meeting new people was fun.
I worked with Leslie, the manager of the store and a few other college students to organize and assist visitors of Martha's Table.
On 11/2 my team had Colonial Harvest during which we sat in front of the Smith Center for a couple of hours collecting money and putting together thanksgiving baskets. Around 5 we left to deliver 8 baskets to families around the DC/VA area.
On 10/26, my teammates and I attender Colonial Madness during which we completed a "miracle minute" when we ran around the stands for one minute and collected money for Colonial Harvest.
On 10/26 a few teammates and I went food shopping for Colonial Harvest.
