SOME (So Others Might Eat)

This was my second time volunteering at So Others May Eat, and once again, it was a very positive experience. I was assigned different tasks this time than the last time; I helped crack eggs and pour them into pitchers for the cooks. In addition to working in the kitchen, I was out on the floor while people were having their meals. I refilled water pitchers, distributed Wet Wipes, and helped clean up. I met many new people in the kitchen that were also volunteering and it was inspiring to learn that they volunteered at SOME out of the kindness of their hearts. I would like to and plan on doing that too.

SOME (So Others Might Eat)

I had a great experience volunteering at So Others May Eat in Mt Vernon. The workers were very welcoming and gave very straightforward, specific directions to make our experience much easier. I had the opportunity to work on the Breakfast Serving "assembly line" during the Tuesday morning shift. I worked along side 5 others to make breakfast plates for those who were eating. My specific job was to put two pancakes on each plate and then pass it down the assembly line for completion. We had three groups of people come in to eat, and in between each session we helped to clean up and reset the tables. It was very rewarding, fun experience that I most definitely will be doing again!
