MLK Day of Service
I volunteered at the Kennedy Shriver Aquatic Center with the Montgomery Dive Team to help run the John Smith Invitational meet. As a diver myself, it was nice to know I was helping other, younger divers. Overall, a very fun experience.
The women's swimming and diving team put together a basket of food for colonial harvest to be donated to the less fortunate families in the DC area over Thanksgiving.
I really enjoyed helping to clean out the DC Greens garden. The work was very hands on; we cleared weeds, painted signs, and placed signs to label the fields. The people in charge of the organization were very kind, patient and helpful. They gave clear instructions, but trusted us to take care of whole sections of the garden. I know they are unfortunately not staying in the same location, but I would love to volunteer for them again.
I spent time weeding the garden, painting signs to label which foods were planted in which plots, and cleared some additional pathways throughout the plots. Although the garden is eventually going to move locations, knowing that I was able to help the DC community was very rewarding.
