School of Business at the Nashman Center Symposium on Community Service

    Paul gave to Courses

1 One of the showcases that was most impactful to me, discussed the impact of food insecurity in DC. This presentation was similar to Martha's Table, a local organization in D.C. for whom I volunteered for earlier in the semester. While both orgs are dedicated to addressing the food insecurity issues in DC, their main differences are in that the presentation focused on the food insecurity in the DC community, while Martha's Table mainly tried to educate students about food insecurity.

2 I attend the Beyond Service - Social Change as Good Business session from 2:30-3:30. The presentation addressed food waste as a major problem in the US (40% of food gets wasted). However businesses and Restaurants can help donate food and reduce their total food waste. (importance of social responsibility)
