    GW Community Response to COVID-19

For my food donation, I made a small goody-bag and donated it to an elderly lady on the street my girlfriend lives on in Mercer Island, Washington. My girlfriend told me that people in the area were doing that because the woman is not able to leave her house due to the virus so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to receive an hour of service while helping someone out in the local area.

The impact I chose for at home service was an hour of exercise and so I walked my dog across the 520 floating bridge in Seattle, WA.

This service was for my BISC class and I was asked to prepare a meal for my family and so I chose to prep a green thai curry.

    GW Community Response to COVID-19

I have a friend with an autoimmune disease and so she is not able to leave her apartment due to the risk of becoming infected with Covid-19. I told her about this class I was in and she said it would be extremely helpful for me to run errands for her since she lives alone and can’t leave her safe quarters.

    Martha's Table

For this activity I volunteered at the Merchandiser clothing market that Martha’s Table offers. This activity was enjoyable because it was different than the previous volunteering opportunity I participated in. I interacted with customers and helped hang clothes that had been donated. Also I was able to learn about the program they have set up that allows people to buy clothes that is affordable.

    Martha's Table

I participated in Martha's Table for Joyful Market at Savoy Elementary School. I enjoyed the experience and supporting the community. The joyful market takes place once a month and I plan on going back next month to complete more hours. What I did for this service was help create sustainable grocery bags that each student in the school was allowed to retrieve once school ended to take home. The bags consisted of healthy grocery products such as potatoes, bananas, mangoes, apples, etc. I think this was a great service because it took place in ward 7/8 where food deserts are more prominent so it allowed people access to healthy food for FREE.
