The symposium was a great way to showcase the work students have done throughout the semester. Through my work with St Marys Court and the National Wildlife Federation I believe I learned many valuable lessons about the community surrounding GW's campus.
Worked on research that would inform a new project the organization was creating. Also worked on the first grant the organization would submit for the new project.
My third semester working for this organization in this capacity. It just keeps getting better.
The workers and residents at St. Mary's were a pleasure to work with. This was one of my favorite service learning opportunities.
Planned and put on a training for new athletes to become student-athlete facilitators of the Grassroots curriculum. This was a part of sustainability efforts for the organization.
Working for this organization is always fulfilling. The children are amazing to spend time with and the board members are so kind. The event is always very well organized and the participants seem to have a great time.
Facilitated sexual health based games for sixth grade students. Ran training for new athletes that wanted to become coaches for the Grassroot Project. Participated in the graduation of the sixth grade students from the program and also connected them to local health service providers.
I designed and carried out an after school program for kindergartners and second graders at Marie Reed Elementary School. The difference in age group made each group unique in my expectations and in how I approached each lesson.
