Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service and Leadership 2021
Workshop: Peace Circle with Little Friends for Peace
Shift Details
Shift Name | Workshop: Peace Circle with Little Friends for Peace |
---|---|
Description | From playground put-downs and family fights to street crime and war, violence builds from the ground up. Children and youth are especially vulnerable to fear, loneliness, anger and frustration when they witness or experience violence. Little Friends For Peace (LFFP) meets people and communities where they are, empowering them to build cultures of peace. Named for the "little" part we all play in spreading peace, LFFP interrupts the culture of violence, teaching a practice of peace, empathy and nonviolent conflict resolution. We work with families, children, schools, prisoners, those experiencing homelessness, and individuals, because everyone has the chance to “rewire” their brain and heart. Across the DC-MD-VA area, we run Peace Camps, in-school and after-school peace education programs, Peace Academy training, Peace Circles, and adult enrichment programs. We invite you to join us on MLK Day to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and join us for a day of education, action, celebration, and peace-building! |
