Event Description | We invite you to strengthen your civic leadership and interpersonal skills and join the Nashman Center at our Civic Leadership Dialogues! Civic Leadership Dialogues consist of workshops, informational sessions, and casual dialogues on various topics including active citizenship, advocacy, leadership, diversity, equity, and other related topics. We focus on the overarching theme of inclusive excellence. Six sessions will be offered each semester.

How do you build it? This workshop will examine space/placed based identity and community identity in civic engagement. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AS EQUITY WORK (VIRTUAL) Charity Eddleman, Program Manager, School and Community Partnerships How does community engagement contribute to equity work? This session will explore the intersections of community engagement and how community-based programs and services focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion can make a deeper impact.
ETHICAL LEADERSHIP (VIRTUAL) Will Brummett, Program Manager, Co-Curricular Service Why is ethical leadership important when serving in the D.C. community? And how does one practice ethical leadership in community engagement work? Come to this interactive workshop to learn of the importance of ethical leadership in community engagement work, discover what an ethical leadership framework can look like, and put to the test your own ethical leadership skills by working through real ethical dilemma scenarios within community engagement. Join us as we discuss insights and ideas from storytellers and thought leaders from different fields and apply these best practices to community engagement. |
