Reading Rocks Volunteer Orientation

Friday, January 24th, 2020 from 9:00am to 10:00am (ET)

About

Payne ES presents Reading Rocks! A Program for Early Childhood Students.

Payne ensures all students receive a high quality education and is proactively addressing the opportunity gap among early childhood students (PreK3 and PreK4). We are looking for volunteers to commit to one hour per week of reading and conversation with a student to foster their early literacy and reading skills.

We will hold a volunteer orientation on Friday, January 24th, 2020 at 9:00am in the school's auditorium. Please register here to attend and learn more about our new program.

To community members new to Payne who are interested in volunteering, please note that all DCPS volunteers must have an active volunteer clearance that includes a negative TB test and background check before becoming a regular volunteer. The clearance is not needed to attend the volunteer orientation and all those interested are welcome to come and learn more.

Payne ES is a five-minute walk from the Potomac Avenue metro station via the Blue, Orange, and Silver metro lines. Please enter through the front doors and bring a valid photo ID to present at the security desk. There is a wheelchair accessible door adjacent to the front entrance. Please contact Ms. Danielle Ciaurro with any questions at danielle.ciaurro@dc.gov.

We look forward to seeing you at our orientation!
