We tested electronics that had been donated, and worked in bundling children books with stuffed animals. We also sorted through books and got rid of ones that were too old for the age group or that were in bad condition.
Friday was session 2 of the grassroots nutrition training, and we played "get it together," which involved the students running and writing answers on a white board to various questions related to nutrition and healthy eating habits.
This was the first actual session with the kids and I felt as though it went great. The kids were very welcoming and receptive to the message. I'm excited to go back again next week.
Learned how to run the games and talk in small groups. Worked with several athletes at other schools and was pushed out of my comfort zone. So glad I joined TGP
The second day of training was great and my group did the teachback. It was cool because it gave me a feel for what it would really be like to teach the kids at the middle school.
I am so glad to be apart of the TGP family! It is a great organization and a good way to be involved in the community around me. It is also such a good way to meet new athletes in the area, that I probably wouldn't have met without TGP
The training was great and I feel as though I learned a lot. I am excited to go to the school and teach the kids the curriculum.
It was a good experience and I was glad to help
It was such a nice way to give back to the community and instant gratification with how our time was making an impact.
Great easy way to give back to the community and it showed how much of an impact we can make in such a small amount of time
