thank dcck for all of the wonderful experiences this year :)
It was really cool to talk about sustainability and connect it with DC central kitchen
Listening to fellow classmates talk about their ideas for the future of civic engagement at GW was truly a pleasure. It was important to listen to how everyone's ideas play into their interests, and how everyone's back ground allows for a way to impact the community.
I really enjoyed both Alexander Justice Moore's speech and the reflection session I was part of. It opened my eyes to so many new ideas, and I also got to express my thoughts on many topics I already have developed opinions on. Overall, it was a very enriching experience.
It was the last service this semester at the DCCK, and I really appreciated the process of being a volunteer there. Working with food was interesting enough for me, no to mention how friendly the staffs were at DCCK. This time I was assigned to sliding pumpkins, to make soup. I had lunch at the DCCK. It had been a wonderful period working with them and learning from them as well. Thanks a lot to this warm organization.
Surprisingly, there are lots of volunteers there during the thanksgiving break. And the DCCK also provided food that related to the thanksgiving. I was assigned to pickle the chicken breast and cover them with baking powder. DCCK was full of the atmosphere of thanksgiving, that contains lots of carings to the homeless, and I really love that.
This particular session was really meaningful to me due to the fact that I was able to prepare food for the homeless on Thanksgiving Eve. This day, I was able to work with a partner to make Turkey Salad (through chopping onions, bell peppers, etc).
I took out trash to help empty out all the old food from the refrigeration units.
Last time at dcck for the semester. Stacked chicken and counted ketchup for Lou
Today I made tuna salad and prepared some potatoes.
