Went to a session on service through documentary production. I really enjoyed one of the movies on a sex worker in DC.
At the symposium the documentary showcase presentation where three film students showed their documentaries. The documentaries were meaningful because were all focused around things that affect the local community, and the filmmakers were really able to show their love and passion for filmmaking. Of the six sessions at the symposium, I went to Sejal's. Something new that I learned about community engaged scholarship was the abundance of resources that the university provides to help us make a difference.
Visited different rooms with community engagement topics and learned about the service they did and how we can get involved.
Glad to have served at Bread for the City's clothing drive and food pantry. From organizing inventory to helping shoppers find items they were looking for, it was a great time providing service to customers and interacting with other volunteers and the supervisor on site.
Today we worked with middle schoolers to bring new mulch into the garden!
Today we cleaned out milk cartons for an earth day project! it was great!
My friends and I went to the suicide prevention event at American University and participated in the walk and watched other fundraising events after such as tug of war.
