I really enjoyed my service. We spent the afternoon cleaning up trash from the shoreline around the marina we sail out of. This was impactful because it was a place we go to everyday and it felt good to improve it and give back to the land.

The Arlington Free Clinic (AFC) provides quality health care to uninsured Arlingtonians. I have been volunteering here for three years now contributing to different tasks where I am needed. As a Pharmacy Technician Assistant, I work with the pharmacists to ensure the patients are receiving their medication in a timely manner. I began working at the AFC because of my interest in health care accessibility.

I got to work different jobs this time and it was cool to experience all of the different roles that make the service work, we were understaffed so it was a lot of running around but it was still a lot of fun.

Cleaning up the marina we sail out of is extremely important not only for out team but for impacting the greater DC community. We want to be proud of our home waters and make sure we keep the Potomac healthy!

I picked up trash with my teammates around the Washington Sailing Marina. It was good to clean up the water areas that we use during practice.

We were able to collect and dispose of nearly 50 full trashbags full of trash from along the Potomac River, including glass bottles, styrofoam, plastic bags and other items that cannot decompose and are a burden on nature. Feels very good to know we are potentially saving some animals by doing this cleanup.

My team picked up trash at the Washington Sailing Marina on a chilly Thursday morning. We collected about 12-15 bags worth of trash. It was great to clean up the marina, especially since we sail out of it. Helping mother nature was very rewarding, even if it was only a small percentage. Looking forward to cleaning up the Washington Sailing Marina again!

It was great to spend a couple hours cleaning up a place where I spend a lot of time doing what I love. Because of us, the marina became a much cleaner place.

This was the second time I served lunch, it was all provided by a local church. It was to be a part of local organizations working together to help people they don't know. I saw a woman who had been there before when I was serving and seeing her come in smiling made my day. The atmosphere of joy and community in the dining room is infectious and I always leave SOME happier than when I got there.

This time volunteering one of the other volunteers turned 99 and we got to celebrate with her, it was incredible to see someone who had spent so much of their life helping others and getting to celebrate that. I got to know the group that she came with who do this once a month or so and hearing their stories of all the times they've had a SOME has made me want to continue doing this for years to come.
