We helped the GW store clean the fridges, shelves, and floor in order to make everything sanitary.
We ran a fundraiser for Engineers Without Borders which has projects in Northern India, Uganda, and in DC.
We cleaned the Washington sailing marina which was really fun and exciting. We got to clean the place where we do our sport as well as bind as a team. I am looking forward to doing it again.
We completed a CPR training course with GW EMERG. We are all now trained and prepared to help others if they are in trouble and need CPR or first aid.
I can now use my CPR skills if an emergency situation requires, so I can do my part in keeping the community safe.
I got the opportunity to work with EmerG GW to learn how to respond and perform CPR in an emergency situation.
I really enjoyed it. It was fun to be with my team but also to volunteer my time for something I am interested in.
It was great to learn how to perform CPR with my teammates so that I would feel confident to help in an emergency. Being on the water and sailing can sometimes lead to a dangerous situation so knowing the steps to take in an emergency is super important.

I was happy to know I can help keep the community safe by knowing cpr

Working at some so close to Thanksgiving was a humbling experience because it is a holiday that can be very expensive and is so focused around a meal. Growing up I never had to worry that we couldn't afford to get a thanksgiving dinner and being able to give someone a meal around thanksgiving that they may not otherwise be able to afford brought me a lot of joy. It is always so much fun to work at SOME and get to see and connect with volunteers and guests alike and I look forward to going back soon.
