I got the catering food from Beefsteak and handed out flyers at the door for the closing ceremony. A great day!
I had the pleasure of representing my non-profit at Chavez, Huerta, and Itliong Day during the Values Fair. It was amazing to see and interact with so many student organizations in one room that have a shared set of values.
The day was very informative and I had a great time helping the hosts of the workshops. I was mainly involved with helping the hosts set up before the workshop and ensuring that everything went smoothly. I tried to engage myself a little bit in some of the smaller workshops, but for the most part I sat back and helped the organizers distribute papers or set up chairs.
This experience not only gave me a deeper understanding of the importance of civil rights leaders like Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta, and Larry Itliong, but also taught me how to communicate this importance to the GW community through social media!
Guau!
I loved setting up the Peace Room and seeing the visitors enjoy the timeline, slideshow presentation, and various art activities. I especially liked teaching visitors to make the origami cranes while maintaining the challenge of no-english speaking! I was also very inspired by Paul Lachelier, who spoke about the mission of Learning Life, the organization he founded to help struggling families in Ward 8. Lastly, the CHI closing ceremony was very touching and the discussion with the panelists was eye-opening. Can't wait for next year!

This was great. I got to speak with more staff and DC bilingual which was a refreshing learning experience.
A truly great experience where I visit Mrs.Pierre's 5th grade class at Bruce-Monroe elementary school, a bilingual school. I help the kids read and write in Spanish and teach them how to develop essays.
