Being the second time I went to this organization I felt a closer bond with the students and was able to help better. It was really nice to give back to the kids and help them further their education. I was able to help them with their homework and other works the organization gives them including reading, writing and math.
Went for an hour for after school snack compost shift. A lot less busy than usual for a morning shift!
Food Tidy Shift where loaded up van, packaged sandwiches, and washed dishes
I helped kids with homework and math practice, helped clean the building, and helped oversee recess time. The kids were great, and I had a lot of fun. We are going back this Thursday to volunteer some more.
Helped the children with homework and played sports following this. We cleaned up their study area before helping them with their work.
My groupmates and I were able to clean the classrooms while also tutoring, playing, and building relationships with the kids.
Taught our fist class with my partner to fifth graders
I arrived a little earlier. It was sad to hear that there were suppose to be 4 volunteers but I was the only one showed up. We prepared the food that were going to get cooked in the demo in the following markets. I never had chance to hold knives for more than an hour. It was fun and interesting. Now I smeel like ginger and asparagus!
Helped students at School without walls compost, recycle their lunch foods.
Helped sort trash into recycling, compost, and waster during lunch #1 and #2.
Worked the table market shift and helped distribute food to the customers.
packaged and prepared meat, unpackaged food for dinner, organized kitchen
I helped sort clothing various items, clean the facility, and interacted with guests.
I always enjoy interacting with the other Martha's Table staff at this location, they're all exceptionally cool and friendly people. It was nice to work with the Outfitters team again after being at the Market for the last couple weeks.
I was glad I was able to help sort clothes and contribute to the group. Always a good experience!
