About

Students who want to explore teaching careers become familiar with lesson plan development by writing, teaching, and observing lessons in an elementary school classroom. While students build and practice inquiry-based lesson design skills, they also become familiar with and practice classroom management in the elementary school setting. As a result of the Step 1 experiences, students are able to decide to continue exploring teaching as a career. Through this experience local teachers gain exposure to new pedagogical and innovative innovative inquiry based lessons, and local students engage in lessons which feature activity content to spark interest in lifelong learning and interest in STEM. - If you need a TB test or a background check, check out the 2019-2020 student guide to Community Engaged Scholarship in the "Documents" tab of your class and find out how to get ready for service.

- Lastly, many students in CES courses last year said “I wished I had known about Metrorail and Bus to my site, I would have saved lots of money on transportation”. Try out the trip planner and Metro App https://www.dcmetroapp.com/ and get to your site with ease (and less stress on your wallet) https://www.wmata.com/schedules/trip-planner/
Just a reminder, be sure to fill out the service waiver before you begin serving.
