Question #1 Which showcase presentation was most impactful to you and why?

The showcase presentation with SMPA capstone Dr. Imani Cheers was the most impactful to me. This session was run by three GW students from a documentary course. In this session, I learned that community engagement does not necessarily mean volunteering with an organization, rather community engagement can also involve interacting with community members who need assistance and being an advocate for them. I found this to be extremely interesting as I had not thought about community engagement in this way. The projects themselves were also very moving and it was clear that the presenters were passionate about their work.

Question #2 Which of the six sessions did you attend from 2:30-3:30? In your session, what was something new your learned about community engaged scholarship?

I attended the session for GWSB with presentations on Last Call and Community Engagement Consulting. During these presentations, I learned that people should participate in an area of community engagement that they are passionate about. Additionally, I learned that community engagement is not simply volunteering, but it is also a chance to gain skills and experience that could be useful in the future.
