DC Jewish Center Preschool

At Washington Hebrew Congregation’s Edlavitch-Tyser Early Childhood Center (E-T ECC), children are encouraged to be creative and curious.

We view your child as capable, competent, and full of wonder. Our teachers, assistants, specialists, clergy, and administration believe that learning is a process of construction, growth, and reflection. We intentionally plan experiences and lessons to inspire ideas, spark questions, and set the stage for positive interactions. Jewish ethical values help provide a foundation from which we strive to nurture, support, and create connections with our children, families, professional staff, and community. Our inquiry-based educational approach, which integrates a Judaic and secular curriculum, embraces the very best of developmentally appropriate practice.

Our welcoming classrooms have learning areas for block play, dramatic play, math, science, language and literacy, and motor skills. We have a beautiful Media Center/Library with a specialist that helps children find answers in books and online. We are proud of our new STEAM room filled with wonderful materials to learn about science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Our days are filled with both teacher-led and child-initiated activities. We understand what it takes to be a kindergartener and want to offer your child the chance to be successful long after kindergarten is over. We spend time helping children communicate with each other, negotiate problems, ask questions, value their own ideas, and discover the joy of learning.
