Loved being in nature and helping clean up a national park making it more sustainable. Also loved interacting with other Atl Breaks groups.

I had a great time volunteering with my peers at A Wider Circle. Their mission to end poverty through giving those that they serve basic need items and workforce development programs is admirable. It was amazing to see so many people from various communities coming together to fight an injustice. I really appreciated how the Wider Circle team viewed what they were doing not as charity work, but as justice work. That mindset made it clear that they prioritize the people they serve and recognize how much of a national crisis poverty really is.

It was a meaningful task for both our community and myself. I had a great morning serving experience and also made some new friends. As we picked up trash along the Anacostia River, I was shocked by how much trash there is, and as a community member, we all need to take better care of the environment we lived in.

I was working on clearing out a meadow area of the park. The park was beautiful and it felt good to help with beautification of it.
