A Wider Circle: Direct Service Opportunity

The mission of A Wider Circle is to advance equity in the greater Washington, DC region by fostering the exchange of goods, skills, and connections from neighbor to neighbor, and by engaging in advocacy to address the root causes of poverty.

Student volunteers assist with career development by providing real work experiences that provide students with opportunities to explore their interests and develop professional skills and competencies. 

• Intentional learning objective goals
• Guided supervision by a professional with related work experience in the field
• Continuous observation, evaluation and feedback for growth
• Personal development, hard and soft skill development and academic advancement
• A balance of learning goals and a company's organizational needs

When?

• Volunteer schedules may vary and are offered Monday through Saturday during normal business hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Student availability will also determine frequency and time commitment.

Background checks are not conducted. However, Career Support staff do engage student interns prior to assignment to determine suitability.
