FRESHFARM promotes sustainable agriculture and improves food access and equity in the Mid-Atlantic Region. It operates producer-only farmers markets that provide vital economic opportunities to local farmers and innovative outreach programs that educate the public about food and related environmental issues. Farmers markets are an essential part of FRESHFARM's effort to support local food systems. If you have a passion to support local food systems or would like to learn more about food access initiatives try volunteering at your local farmers market! Volunteers in this role help with set up and tear down procedures or volunteer their time at the Information Tent. This role involves interacting with a wide range of vendors and customers. It might also involve helping vendors set up or tear down tents, tables, and other equipment. Having volunteers in this role is enormously helpful in making sure the market runs smoothly and market managers are enormously grateful for the extra support. Please note that this role does require the ability to lift at least 20-30 lbs.
